Many of us are celebrating Easter in a similar fashion to last year. We thought to ourselves... “for sure next year will be normal again”. Like last year, many of us are meeting remote, holding services outside, gathering at limited capacity, or doing a mixture of all of the above.
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, one of our own at ChurchTrac happened to be wearing a T-shirt like this...
We obviously don’t know know what the future holds... but we do know this:
A lot can happen in three days.
On Good Friday, Jesus was tried and crucified on a cross. Around 3pm, the temple curtain was torn in two while the earth shook. This caused the rocks to split, breaking tombs open with the bodies of many holy people who had died being raised to life. We’ll say that again in case you missed it... tombs were opening and bodies were being raised to life!😮 (Matthew 27)
The next day, Jesus was laid in a borrowed tomb. A tomb which was sealed by a rock weighing thousands of pounds under the watch of guards.
But...On the third day, the stone was rolled away with an Angel appearing. This caused the guards to be stunned and scattered. Jesus was resurrected and risen from the dead. The greatest miracle to happen. EVER!
A lot can happen in three days.
When we look at the miracle of Easter, we’re reminded that time is temporary and God is 100% eternal. As my pastor always says... “If the tomb is empty, anything is possible.”
We celebrate Easter this year with the belief that we serve an amazing God who knows us (Psalm 139:1) and loves us (Romans 8:34-39). No matter how many days or years go by with times of uncertainty, we will always remember:
A lot can happen in three days.
